The Liberty Story
Liberty Healthcare is an experienced family-owned company that has been helping people manage their healthcare and residential needs for more than 145 years. Our principal owners, Sandy and Ronnie McNeill, are proud to call North Carolina home, and are the fourth generation of McNeill’s immersed in the healthcare industry. The company founders, who opened their first pharmacy in 1875, established Liberty’s core values of quality, honesty, and integrity that guide us to this day.
The key figures and principals of Liberty Healthcare are Chief Executive Officer John A. McNeill Jr. and Vice President Ronald B. McNeill. John A. McNeill Jr., a pharmacist by training, has had many years of business experience in the health care field. He has opened and operated four pharmacies and developed Medi-Care Supply Company from a relatively small operation with one location in 1975 to a multi-million dollar corporation with 16 locations when it was sold in 1986 to a Fortune 500 company.
Ronald B. McNeill is a Registered Professional Engineer with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He brings technical, financial and health care insurance reimbursement expertise to Liberty. He previously served as Chief Financial Officer and Billing Manager of Medi-Care Supply Company. He contributes his substantial expertise in financial management and cost control to the efficient operation of the organization.
John A. McNeill Jr. and Ronald B. McNeill have developed additional depth and experience in the health care industry through substantial ownership and co-management of Pharmaceutical Product Development, Inc. (PPD). PPD was founded in 1985 and in 1996 went public and issued its initial public stock offering. PPD became leading global contract research organization providing discovery, development and post-approval services as well as compound partnering programs. With offices in 47 countries and more than 20,000 professionals worldwide, PPD applies innovative technologies, therapeutic expertise and a commitment to quality to help its clients and partners maximize returns on their research and development investments and accelerate the delivery of safe and effective therapeutics to patients. Their involvement in PPD ended in 2011 when PPD was taken private by the Carlyle Group.
